By Fatih Karimov - Trend: More than 148 billion cubic meters of gas was consumed in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, started on March 21, 2014.

Nasser Ebrahimi, Director for gas supply at the National Iranian Gas Company, said the household, the industrial, and the power plant sectors consumed 148.406 bcm of gas over the past 322 days, Iran's Shana news agency reported on Feb. 8.

Gas consumption increased by 15 bcm compared to the same period in the previous year, he noted.

Some 45.373 bcm of gas wad delivered to power plants, showing 12 bcm rise year on year, he said.

Last winter, during some weeks, Iran's housing gas consumption reached about 500 mcm per day, which led to cutting gas delivery to power plants, petrochemical units, gas injection to old oil fields and industrial sector, due to gas shortage.
