It is planned to drill the first exploration well at 'Satpayev' large oil-bearing structure in Kazakhstan in 2015, the country's Energy Ministry told Trend.

"According to the information we have, Satpayev Operating LLP plans to drill the first exploration well at 'Satpayev' structure in 2015, "said the ministry.

'Satpayev' site is located on the northern part of the shelf in the north of the Caspian Sea and includes three promising structures: 'Satpayev', 'Eastern Satpayev' and 'Karina'.

The estimated recoverable resources of the 'Satpayev' site are 253 million metric tons of standard fuel.

'Satpayev' block is under development by Kazakhstan's KazMunaiGas national oil and gas company and India's ONGC Videsh Limited national oil company (with 25-percent share with the possibility of increasing). A subsoil use contract was signed on this site.
