Over 100 tankers shipped from SOCAR’s Black Sea oil terminal

Black Sea oil terminal of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) in Kulevi (Georgia) shipped 101 tankers in the first half of 2015, which is 33.6 percent more than in the same period of 2014 (67 tankers), the terminal said.

According to the terminal, the number of shipped tankers has been growing at the terminal since early 2015 compared to the previous years. Thus, some 75 and 62 tankers were shipped from the terminal in the first six months of 2013 and 2012 respectively.

The terminal in Georgia's Kulevi was commissioned in May 2008 and the oil transshipment started in June of the same year. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million metric tons of bulk-oil cargo per year, three million metric tons of oil, three million metric tons of diesel fuel and four million metric tons of fuel oil.

The total capacity of the terminal's tank farm is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of reaching 380,000 cubic meters.
