Transportation of Azerbaijani oil via BTC decreases

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 2.29 million tons of oil in January 2016 compared to 2.47 million tons in January 2015.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 2.29 million tons of oil in January 2016 compared to 2.47 million tons in January 2015, SOCAR said Feb. 4.

Azeri Light oil, produced on the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field, is mainly exported via BTC. Besides the Azerbaijani oil, oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, delivered to Baku by tankers, is supplied through a pipeline. Some 358,530 tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil were supplied via BTC in January 2016.

As a whole, some 294.96 million tons of oil were transported after the commissioning of the pipeline.

Some 2.85 million tons of oil were sent from the Turkey's Ceyhan port to the world markets in January 2016 compared to 2.48 million tons transported in January 2015.

Since the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, 294.04 million tons of Azerbaijani oil have been sent to the world markets from Ceyhan port.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
