The world consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons will increase up to 95.02 million barrels per day in 2016, the February short-term forecast of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.
In its January short-term forecast EIA forecasted world oil consumption in 2016 at 95.19 million barrels per day.
The global consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons amounted to 93.78 million bpd in 2015, while it was 92.45 million bpd in 2014, the EIA said.
The consumption of oil and other liquid hydrocarbons is projected at 93.9 million bpd in the first quarter of 2016, 94.61 million bpd in the second quarter, 95.83 million bpd in the third quarter, 95.72 million bpd in the fourth quarter.
EIA predicts global consumption will reach up to 96.48 in 2017 compared to 96.61 million bpd day in the previous forecast. The quarterly production is expected to reach 95.34 million bpd, 96.05 million bpd, 97.34 million bpd and 97.17 million bpd, respectively in 2017.
