Azerbaijan's Sangachal oil and gas terminal has been upgraded by 50 percent as part of the Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz gas field's development, a source in the oil and gas market told Trend Feb. 26.

The AMEC-Tekfen-Azfen consortium is expanding and upgrading the terminal, the contract for which is worth almost $1 billion.

"The consortium has greatly advanced in the construction of an onshore pipeline and reconstruction of the operating terminal," the source said. "In general, the terminal has been upgraded by 50 percent."

"All the work is going on in line with schedule and is expected to be completed in October 2017," said the source.

As part of the Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz development, the gas will be exported to Turkey and European markets by expanding the South Caucasus Pipeline and the construction of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline.
