Azerbaijani oil transportation via BTC slightly increases

The volume of oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline stood at 9.82 million tons in January-April 2016 versus 9.56 million tons in the same period of 2015, said the message posted on the website of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR.

BTC mainly transports Azeri Light oil produced at the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

Aside from the Azerbaijani oil, the pipeline transports oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The BTC transported 1.55 million tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil in January-April 2016.

A total of 302.49 million tons of oil has been transported via the BTC since the start of its operation.

As much as 10.09 million tons of oil was sent to world markets from Turkey's Ceyhan port in January-April, 2016, compared to 9.24 million tons in the same period in 2015.

In total, 301.28 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was sent from Ceyhan port to world markets via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline since the start of its operation.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
