Sri Lanka has started talks with Iran for crude imports, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Mohsen Qamsari said.

He announced that Iran is ready to supply Sri Lanka with 40,000 barrels of crude per day, Mehr news agency reported May 11.

Meanwhile, according to Qamsari, Iran's oil export to Taiwan has increased by 100 percent.

Taiwanese officials recently said the country's oil imports from Iran would increase 20 times this year to jump from 3,600 bpd to 60,000 bpd.

A Taiwanese refinery official had said his company had reached an agreement with the National Iranian Oil Company in 2015 about the volume of imports.
