An inspection carried out by the Turkish government authorities in various companies, including the Petkim petrochemical complex, is not related to SOCAR’s activity in the country, said Turkey’s Energy Minister Berat Albayrak Aug. 3.
Albayrak made the remarks at a meeting with the Head of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev, held following the session of High-Level Economic dialogue with international investors in Ankara, where SOCAR participated.
“After the events on July 15, Turkey’s government authorities are conducting inspections in a number of companies operating in the country, including Petkim,” explained Albayrak. “However, they are in no way connected to SOCAR’s activity, and are being conducted as part of common inspection of the events.”
The Turkish minister inquired about the implementation of SOCAR’s projects in Turkey, as well as the work on the projects, in which Turkish companies are involved in Azerbaijan.
He said that the SOCAR’s investment projects are being implemented according to schedule, and the recent events in Turkey’s social and political life have not affected the progress of works.
Albayrak added that all projects are being implemented according to plan.
The minister also noted that Azerbaijan’s state oil company is one of the biggest investors in Turkey and the country’s government fully supports SOCAR’s activity.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed new investment prospects to expand SOCAR’s activity in Turkey, and a number of other issues.
