SOCAR to continue investing in long-term projects in Turkey

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 28

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR will continue making investments in long-term projects in Turkey, the company’s president Rovnag Abdullayev said Sept. 28.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Berat Albayrak in Turkey, read a message from SOCAR.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of SOCAR’s projects in Turkey as well as construction of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), Star refinery and the issues related to activities of Petkim petrochemical holding.

Abdullayev emphasized the speedy implementation of the projects and noted that the construction work at Star refinery is carried out on schedule and 73 percent of this work has been completed.

He added that the construction of TANAP, which will deliver Azerbaijani gas to Europe, is going on at full speed.

“Azerbaijan is closely watching the economic processes in Turkey and the investments made in this country prove Azerbaijan’s trust in Turkish market,” said Abdullayev. “SOCAR will definitely continue to invest in long-term projects in Turkey. All the projects will be implemented at high a quality and in time.”

Head of the board of management of SOCAR Turkey Energy and Petkim, chief of the SOCAR Investment Department, Vagif Aliyev, who participated in the meeting, expressed confidence that the success achieved in the third quarter of 2016 will continue in the fourth quarter as well.
