Uzbekistan starts modernization of gas processing plant

Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company (NHC) of Uzbekistan has started modernization of Mubarek Gas Processing Plant Ltd., (Kashkadarya region, south of the country) worth $150 million, a representative of the holding told Trend Oct. 17.

Uzbekneftegaz NHC signed a contract for the modernization of the Mubarek gas processing plant with Singapore’s Enter Engineering, which won the tender announced in February this year, the holding’s representative said.

Enter Engineering has currently started implementing the project, said the representative of Uzbekneftegaz NHC, however he didn’t mention the cost of the contract.

It was previously reported that the tender was announced for two lots.

The first lot was for selection of a general contractor for the project of compensation for the retired capacities of the sulfur recovery units with a starting price of $141.5 million, the second lot was for implementation of the project to organize granulated sulfur production at the Mubarek gas processing plant with a starting price of $9.2 million.

The period of the first project’s implementation is 17 months, and the implementation period of the second project is five months.

Uzbek state investment program for 2016 includes projects on compensation for the retiring capacities of the sulfur recovery units at the Mubarek gas processing plant with a cost of $173 million, and the organization of granulated sulfur production with a cost of $9.4 million.

The projects will be financed through own funds of Uzbekneftegaz NHC and the loan by the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan in the amount of $40 million.
