The shale output in the US oil production regions is expected to increase by 80,000 barrels per day in March and reach 4.873 million barrels per day (mbd) as compared to 4.793 mbd in February, the country’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in the Drilling Productivity Report.

The highest rise in shale output is expected in the country’s Permian region, as the production there will increase from 2.180 mbd to 2.250 mbd (up by 70,000 bpd), according to the report.

EIA forecasts 15,000 bpd increase in shale production of the US Niobrara region, while a 1,000 bpd increase is expected in Marcellus.

At the same time, the shale output is expected to drop by 18,000 bpd in Bakken, while 2,000 bpd decrease will be recorded in Utica and Eagle Ford regions each, said the report.

EIA forecasts the gas production to increase in the US from 48.611 billion cubic feet per day to 49.135 billion cubic feet per day.
