By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Oil production from four wells at Azerbaijan’s Muradkhanli and Jafarli fields by Canada’s Zenith Energy Ltd has increased by 14 barrels of oil per day, the company said in a message on its website.

The Muradkhanli, Jafarli and Zardab oil fields are controlled and operated by Zenith Aran, Zenith Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary in Azerbaijan.

The increase in production at the Muradkhanli and Jafarli fields is a result of replacement of submersible pumps at four wells of these fields, according to the message.

Team A of Zenith Energy successfully completed pump replacements at M-67 and M-70 in the Muradkhanli field, as well as C-31 and C-34 in the Jafarli field. In addition to these activities, well C-39 in the Jafarli field has undergone pump repair work.

“Team A is currently awaiting delivery of all the ancillary tools and piping necessary for the workover of M-45. These parts are expected to arrive at the Muradkhanli field later this week,” said Zenith Energy.

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Zenith Aran Oil Company signed March 2016 a rehabilitation, exploration, development and production sharing agreement at the block that includes Muradkhanli, Jafarli and Zardab oil fields. These fields cover an area of 642.2 square kilometers. Production under the Zenith banner began August 11, 2016.

Zenith holds an 80 percent participating interest in the three fields – Muradkhanli, Jafarli and Zardab – within the contract area, while a SOCAR Oil affiliate company (fully owned by SOCAR) retains the remaining 20 percent. The duration of the agreement is 25 years, with a potential extension of 5 additional years.
