Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas reduces oil output

The Kazakh National Oil and Gas Company KazMunayGas (KMG) produced 22.639 million tons of oil and gas condensate in 2016, the company said in a message Apr. 21.

Of this volume, production at mature fields amounted to 15.981 million tons of oil and gas condensate, according to the message.

Production in 2016 slightly decreased compared to 2015, when the consolidated production of KMG amounted to 22.67 million tons of oil and gas condensate.

Production of natural and associated gas in 2016, on the contrary, increased to 7.384 billion cubic meters compared to 7.255 billion cubic meters in 2015.

The volume of oil transportation through main pipelines in 2016 was 56.6 million tons, which is a decrease compared to 2015, when 61 million tons of oil were transported through the pipelines. Oil transportation by sea for the reporting period amounted to 7.082 million tons compared to 7.033 million tons in 2015.

Transportation of gas through main gas pipelines in 2016 amounted to 88.1 billion cubic meters, which is a decrease compared to 2015, when 102.75 billion cubic meters were transported.

Of this volume, transit of gas for the reporting period amounted to 58.3 billion cubic meters, internal transportation amounted to 16.5 billion cubic meters and transportation for export amounted to 13.3 billion cubic meters.

KMG is a 100 percent government-owned national oil company with stakes in essentially all of Kazakhstan’s oil-related assets and priority access to new assets.
