Oil transportation via BTC down

More than 8.72 million tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in January-April 2017, as compared to 9.82 million tons in the same period of 2016, Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR said in a message posted on its website May 2.

In April 2017, 546,170 tons of Turkmen oil was transported via the BTC pipeline, as compared to 350,860 tons in April 2016.

In total, 330.26 million tons of oil was transported via the BTC pipeline since the beginning of its operation.

In January-April 2017, 8.04 million tons of oil was sent from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets, as compared to 10.09 million tons in the same period of 2016. Some 5.19 million tons of the January-April 2017 amount accounted for the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ).

Overall, 327.87 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was sent from Ceyhan to the world markets since the start of operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Shareholders of the BTC pipeline are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), CIECO (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
