US revises up global petroleum supply forecasts

Global petroleum and other liquids supply are expected to stand at 98.47 million barrels per day in 2017 and 100.40 million barrels per day in 2018, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its May Short-Term Energy Outlook.

The forecasts were revised up compared to the previous short-term energy outlook published in April, when total world petroleum and other liquids supplies were forecast at 98.31 million barrels per day in 2017 and 100.18 million barrels per day in 2018.

Global petroleum and other liquids supplies totaled 97.09 million barrels per day in 2016, according to the EIA.

The EIA has also increased the forecast for petroleum supplies from non-OPEC countries.

These supplies are forecast at the level of 59.04 million barrels per day in 2017, as compared to 58.8 million barrels per day in the April energy outlook. In 2018, supplies from non-OPEC countries are expected at the level of 60.18 million barrels per day as compared to 59.96 million barrels per day in the previous report.

In 2018, quarterly global petroleum and other liquids supply is forecast at 99.40 million, 100.41 million, 100.69 million and 101.09 million barrels per day, respectively.
