Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company are linked by the relations of lasting partnership, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said.

He made the remarks at the “Key Development Prospects for Future Growth of Oil and Gas Industry in Uzbekistan” conference held within the framework of the 21st Global Oil & Gas Uzbekistan / OGU 2017 international exhibition and conference, which opened May 17 in Tashkent.

He reminded that SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz cooperate within the framework of a joint venture created on an equal footing for processing of oil sludge and clean-up of oil contaminated soil.

SOCAR also provides assistance to Uzbek partners in the introduction of the latest developments and technologies in the field of energy saving and alternative energy sources, he added.

Uzbekneftegaz and SOCAR signed a memorandum on the joint development of oil and gas fields within the framework of the conference.

This is the second document signed between the oil and gas companies of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The first memorandum, which envisages cooperation in the sphere of exploration and development of oil and gas fields, was signed by the two countries last year within the framework of the 20th Global Oil & Gas Uzbekistan / OGU 2016 international exhibition and conference.

The 21st Global Oil & Gas Uzbekistan / OGU 2017 international exhibition and conference will end May 19 in Tashkent.

The event is timed to the 25th anniversary of the Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company in 2017.

About 200 companies from 30 countries take part in the exhibition.
