Global LNG import up

Global import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) increased to 346.6 billion cubic meters in 2016 compared to 338.3 billion cubic meters in 2015.

Global import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) increased to 346.6 billion cubic meters in 2016 compared to 338.3 billion cubic meters in 2015, according to BP’s Statistical Review of World Energy 2017.

Qatar, which exported 104.4 billion cubic meters of LNG in 2016, is the biggest LNG exporter in the world.

Australia with 56.8 billion cubic meters, Malaysia with 32.1 billion cubic meters, Nigeria with 23.7 billion cubic meters and Indonesia with 21.2 billion cubic meters ranked second, third, fourth and fifth in terms of LNG export in 2016, correspondingly.

The US LNG export hit 4.4 billion cubic meters in 2016, according to BP.

The biggest LNG importer in the world is Japan. It imported 108.5 billion cubic meters of LNG in 2016.

Meanwhile, pipeline gas import rose to 737.5 billion cubic meters in 2016 compared to 704.1 billion cubic meters in 2015.
