Uzbekistan eyes to increase gas exports to China by 2021

Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz national holding company plans to increase the export of natural gas to China to 10 billion cubic meters per year until late 2020, chairman of the company’s board Alisher Sultanov said during the meeting of the International Press Club in Tashkent city.

It was previously reported that a medium-term agreement on the supplies of natural gas from Uzbekistan to China for 2018-2020 was signed during the visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China May 11-13, 2017.

“We have a long-term contract with PetroChina International Company Ltd.,” Sultanov said. “The medium-term agreement was signed for three years as part of the long-term contract.”

Earlier, it was reported that the export contract for the supplies of Uzbek natural gas to China was signed October 2011. The contract was signed by the Uztransgaz company (a subsidiary of the Uzbekneftegaz company) and PetroChina International Company Ltd. (a subsidiary of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)).
