Iran’s quarterly gas to power plants operations soar

Iran’s gas deliveries to power plants during the first three months of current fiscal year have increased by 13.4 percent to 187.7 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d).

According to the latest weekly report of Iran’s Energy Ministry, published on its website, Iran has also increased gas oil supply to power plants by 2.1 percent to 3.33 million liters per day (ml/d), while fuel oil usage in this sector decreased by 63.6 percent to 2.54 ml/d.

Iran increased fuel usage in power sector by 10.11 percent in 1Q of the current fiscal year, compared to the same period of last year.

In total the country’s gross electricity generation stood at about 73 terawatt hours (TWh). Its exports increased by 90 percent to 2.136 TWh, while imports decreased by 11 percent to 1.097 TWh.

Iran added 385 MW to power generation capacity in 1Q of fiscal year and the figure reached 76.947 GW. The power generation capacity is projected to reach 81.576 GW by the end of year.
