Uzbekistan produced 56,086 cars in January-May 2017, 85.5 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to statistics of SC Uzavtosanoat (Uzavtoprom), which unites enterprises of the Uzbek automobile industry.
According to Uzavtosanoat, GM Uzbekistan produced 54,160 cars in January-May 2017 (a 90.7 percent growth).
Samarkand Automobile Factory LLC (SamAuto) produced 1,409 cars under the Isuzu brand in January-May 2017 (a 6.3 percent growth), including 1,037 trucks (a decrease of 3.2 percent) and 372 buses (a growth by 45.9 percent).
The third car manufacturer, JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan increased production of trucks by 0.6 percent to 517 in January-May 2017.
General Motors Powertrain Uzbekistan CJSC, a joint venture of Uzavtosanoat and the US corporation General Motors, produced 38,300 powertrains in January-May 2017, as compared to 7,300 in January-May 2016 (a growth by 5.2 times).
