Oil transportation via BTC down

More than 13.17 million tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in January-June 2017, as compared to 14.93 million tons in the same period of 2016, Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR said in a message posted on its website.

In June 2017, 564,550 tons of Turkmen oil was transported via the BTC pipeline, as compared to 371,210 tons in June 2016.

In total, 334.71 million tons of oil was transported via the BTC pipeline since the beginning of its operation.

In January-June 2017, over 12.29 million tons of oil was sent from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets, as compared to 14.77 million tons in the same period of 2016. Some 7.94 million tons of the amount as of January-June 2017 accounted for the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ).

Overall, 332.125 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was sent from Ceyhan to the world markets since the start of operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Shareholders of the BTC pipeline are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), CIECO (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
