US halves oil import from Azerbaijan

The US has imported 1.05 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in January-May 2017, as compared to 2.1 million barrels in the same period in 2016, according to the data published on the website of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The US imported 3.715 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in 2016, as compared to 4.82 million barrels in 2015.

The main route for transportation of Azerbaijan’s Azeri Light oil is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline which delivers oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

Azeri Light oil is also exported from Georgia’s Supsa port where it is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.

Moreover, Azerbaijani oil is exported from Georgia’s Black Sea port of Batumi where oil is delivered via railway from Baku, as well as from the port of Novorossiysk via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
