Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Sept. 7

By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Turkmenistan is considering technical and economic feasibility of organizing benzene production at oil refineries in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Seidi, a source in the country’s fuel and energy complex said.

It is planned to organize production of benzene for its subsequent use as raw material for obtaining expensive products, such as polystyrene and rubber, which are in demand globally.

The project is being studied in order to rationally use the existing potential of hydrocarbon raw materials and ensure sustainable economic development of Turkmenistan.

Construction of benzene separation units will make it possible to completely switch to the production of gasoline corresponding to Euro 5 standards, and also provides an opportunity for further development of petrochemical, as well as gas and chemical production.

Besides, in order to ensure implementation of the task to expand the range of products, the possibility of organizing separate production of graphite and graphite products from petroleum coke is being considered.
