Thirty million cubic meters of gas are produced daily from eight wells at Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, Rovnag Abdullayev, president of SOCAR, said in an article published in the special issue of the country’s Iki Sahil newspaper.

Abdullayev said that the daily condensate production volume at the field is 7,000 tons.

"Since the beginning of development of Shah Deniz field, 85 billion cubic meters of gas and 21.2 million tons of condensate have been extracted,” the article said. “As of September 1, 2017, 83 billion cubic meters of gas and 21 million tons of condensate were transported to the world markets."

He also stressed that 96 percent of work has been carried out as part of the Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz project development.

"Thirteen wells have been already drilled,” the article says. “The wells are still suspended. Another well is being drilled."

Shah Deniz field's reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

As part of the implementation of the Shah Deniz Stage 2 project, the annual gas production volume will increase from 9 billion cubic meters to 16 billion cubic meters.

The cost of the second stage of the field’s development is estimated at $25 billion. It is planned to get the first volumes of gas within the project in 2018 and it will be the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor project.
