The Amangeldy gas field in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region will also be used as a large gas storage facility, the Deputy General Director for Transformation and Development of KazTransGas Erkanat Temirkhanov said during the 16th ERRA Conference on Energy Investment and Regulatory.
"KazTantransGas" has a subsidiary company "Amangeldygaz", with the expected increase of capacity to 500 million tons per year. It is a domestic subsidiary of our company, located in the Zhambyl region,” said Erkanat Temirkhanov, Kazinform reported.
He also shared the plans over the further development of the country’s gas infrastructure.
“We are planning to use the Amangeldy deposit not only as a resource base in the development of the country's gas industry until 2018-2024. Working together with our scientists and other investors, we are developing a project for using “Amangeldygaz” as a large gas storage facility, because the available capacities are not enough. We think about the prospects for the growth of gas transportation to China, we need a large gas storage facility in the south,” Erkanat Temirkhanov stated.
