Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan intend to reconsider the draft road map on increase of trade turnover and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.

This decision was made following the meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Beybit Isabaev in Baku, the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry said in a message Oct. 24.

During the meeting, Shahbazov and Isabaev stressed the current relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and the importance of expanding economic ties.

The sides also emphasized that the mutually beneficial cooperation will give a new impetus to the relations in the energy sector.

Shahbazov said that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan is of paramount importance.

"Before the visit, the presidents of both countries made a number of important instructions to the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation," Shahbazov said.

The discussions on specific areas and directions of the road map which is under preparation were also held at the meeting. The importance of reconsidering the document on the basis of new proposals was stressed.
