Turkmenistan is one of the main suppliers of natural gas in the Central Asian region, being one of the biggest suppliers of natural gas to China, Myrat Archayev, acting head of the Turkmengas state concern, said.
Archayev made the remarks at the 22nd International Conference ‘Oil & Gas Turkmenistan - OGT 2017’ in Ashgabat Nov. 2.
The Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China transnational gas pipeline was commissioned in 2009. At present, there are three branches of that gas pipeline. Turkmenistan annually exports up to 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China via that gas pipeline.
The fourth branch is planned to be constructed to increase the capacity of that gas pipeline to 65 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. That branch will be laid along the Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Tajikistan - Kyrgyzstan – China route.
