Currently, negotiations are underway with foreign companies to develop hydrocarbon resources of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, with the subsequent conclusion of a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), Shahym Abdrakhmanov, chairman of the Turkmengeology State Corporation, said at the 22nd International Conference “Oil & Gas Turkmenistan - OGT 2017”.
The total hydrocarbon resources of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, according to the estimates of foreign experts and local geologists, stand at 18.2 billion tons in oil equivalent, he noted.
In addition, the Turkmengeology State Corporation continues selling packages containing geological and geophysical information on the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, he said.
Those willing to buy the information packages consisting of a report on data interpretation for hydrocarbon potential, a report on the volume of reserves, economic model and seismic profiles of the Central and Southern regions of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, can contact the Turkmengeology State Corporation, he added.
He noted that the WesternGeсo (Schlumberger) company, together with Turkmen specialists in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, carried out 2D seismic survey on an area of more than 16,000 kilometers, studied the geological structure of the territory at the depth of up to 7 kilometers and estimated the territory’s hydrocarbon potential.
