By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

Azerbaijan produced 7.4 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.7 million tons of condensate (nearly 14 million barrels) from the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in January-September 2017, as compared to about 8 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.9 million tons of condensate in the same period of 2016, says a BP report on results of 3Q17, issued Nov. 20.

BP Azerbaijan is the Shah Deniz field’s operator.

According to the report, Shah Deniz facilities’ production capacity is currently 30 million cubic metres of gas per day or around 10.9 billion cubic meters per year.

In August, production at the field was suspended due to maintenance work on the platform.

Shah Deniz’s operating expenditures amounted to about $368 million, and capital expenditures totaled about $2.28 billion in 3Q17. A major part of capital expenditures was associated with the Shah Deniz Stage 2 project.

In 2016, 10.7 billion cubic meters of gas and 2.5 million tons of condensate (about 20 million barrels) were produced at the Shah Deniz field.

The contract for development of the Shah Deniz offshore field was signed on June 4, 1996. The field's reserve is estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The shareholders are: BP, operator (28.8 percent), AzSD (10 percent), SGC Upstream (6.7 percent), Petronas (15.5 percent), Lukoil (10 percent), NICO (10 percent) and TPOC (19 percent).
