The Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation (TEDAS) will step up surveillance over electricity distribution companies, the country’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said in a message Dec. 4.

This will be done in order to improve quality of services in the sphere of electricity supply, according to the message.

From now on, TEDAS will be able to conduct inspections in electricity distribution companies at any time. Previously, such inspections were conducted no more than once in a quarter of a year.

At present, there are 21 electricity distribution companies operating in Turkey.

It was earlier reported that Turkey will step up security surveillance in coal mines.

All coal mines in Turkey will be classified into three categories – “red”, “yellow” and “blue”.

The “red” category will include coal mines of high risk. These mines will be checked every three months, according to the message.
