BP became the biggest payer of profit tax in Azerbaijan in 2016 with $94.4 million paid to the state budget, the 2016 Azerbaijan Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Final Report, audited by Moore Stephens, said.
A total of 15 companies that joined the transparency in the extractive sector paid $258.8 million to the Azerbaijani budget.
In 2016, INPEX paid profit tax worth $44.7 million, Chevron - $23.8 million, Exxon - $19.2 million, ACG Limited - $18.9 million, Zenith Aran Oil Company - 5.1 million manats.
The Extractive Industries Transparency Commission was established in accordance with the decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in April 2017.
