Turkmenistan is globally recognized as a major producer of energy resources, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in an address on occasion of the professional holiday of workers of the oil and gas industry and geology.
Turkmenistan’s recognition as a major producer of energy resources is clearly demonstrated by major projects implemented in the oil and gas sector, as well as targeted programs, reads the address.
“Implementation of new projects to lay gas pipelines will remain a priority of our state policy,” Berdimuhamedov noted. “That is why we pay special attention to development of the oil and gas sector, which is one of the leading sectors of the economy.”
According to BP, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.
Turkmenistan sells gas through pipelines to China and Iran.
