Electricity generation down in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 22.55 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2017, that is by 2.3 percent less than in the same period of 2016, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 21.6 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in 2017 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 2.1 percent less than in 2016.

Thermal power plants generated 19.83 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in 2017 that is 1.2 percent less than in 2016.

Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 1.72 billion kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in 2017 that is 10.1 percent less than in 2016.

Wind farms produced 11.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity, while solar power plants generated 40 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the period.
