Turkey eyes over $2.8B in investments in railway infrastructure

In 2018, 10.8 billion Turkish liras (over $2.8 billion) will be invested in Turkey’s railway infrastructure, a source in the Turkish government told Trend Jan. 25.

This amount will be spent on the construction and reconstruction of railways.

The source also noted that 9.8 billion Turkish liras will be invested in the construction of road infrastructure in Turkey.

The work is underway to implement 50 transport and communication projects in Turkey.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey, over 139 billion liras were invested in the implementation of these projects until 2017.

About 49 percent of the total funds spent in 2017 was allocated to implementation of railway projects.

Over 180 billion Turkish liras may be additionally allocated for implementation of 50 transport and communication projects.

Construction of logistics centers is also among the projects being implemented.
