Turkmenistan's foreign trade has been experiencing significant changes in recent years: the range of deliveries has significantly expanded, and most of the areas of industry and agriculture are represented in export operations, says a report of the Institute of Strategy and Sustainable Development under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.

Main items of the national export are natural and liquefied gas, oil and oil products, electricity, polypropylene, mineral fertilizers and products of chemical industry, cotton fiber, cotton yarn and fabrics, carpets and rug, and wool.

In 2017, the volume of exports increased by more than six percent as compared to 2016, says the report.

Turkmenistan has trade relations with more than 110 countries. Major partners of the country are China, Iran, Afghanistan, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Switzerland, UAE and Uzbekistan.

Turkmenistan's active foreign economic strategy is aimed at expanding the geography of exports, improving technology, bringing export-oriented products to the level of world standards.
