The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey has granted Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) with a license to explore oil and gas in four Turkish provinces, the Turkish “Resmi Gazete” official newspaper reported March 7.
The report says that the license for exploration of oil and gas in the provinces of Diyarbakir, Adiyaman, Batman and Adana is provided for a period of five years.
A law came into force in Turkey in April 2014, allowing the exploration of oil in forests and national parks.
According to a report of the Turkish Energy Ministry, 56 wells have been drilled in Turkey since 2014 as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields, 54 of which are onshore and the other two are offshore fields.
