Polyethylene production plant to be built in Kazakhstan

A polyethylene production plant worth $6.5 billion will be built in Kazakhstan, Advisor to the Chairman of the Kazenergy Association Arman Satimov said.

Satimov made the remarks at the 3rd SOCAR International Caspian and Central Asia Downstream Forum on Trading, Logistics, Refining and Petrochemicals in Baku April 24.

“The construction of the plant will be completed in 2024,” he said. "The plant will produce 1.2 million tons of polyethylene per year. Moreover, 3,500 new jobs will be created as a result of the plant construction."

He added that investments worth 39.86 billion tenge have been used since the beginning of the project implementation.

Currently, the Kazakh government together with Borealis company are discussing the conditions for making a decision regarding the further implementation of the project.
