The manufacture volume of oil products in Kazakhstan is planned to increase to 11.6 million tons in 2018, which will be 1.3 million tons more than in 2017, Advisor to the Chairman of the Kazenergy Association Arman Satimov said.

Satimov made the remarks at the 3rd SOCAR International Caspian and Central Asia Downstream Forum on Trading, Logistics, Refining and Petrochemicals in Baku.

He noted that the modernization of three biggest oil refineries in Kazakhstan (Atyrau, Shymkent and Pavlodar) is the main driver for the increase in the manufacture of oil products in Kazakhstan.

“The products manufactured at the Kazakh refineries will include gasoline, jet fuel, benzene, paraxylene, liquefied gas, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil, bitumen, oil coke, sulfur and heating oil,” said Satimov.

The volume of oil refining is expected at 16 million tons in 2018, which is 1.1 million tons more than in 2017, he said.

Satimov also noted that the intensive growth in oil refining and manufacture of oil products may start in 2023 in order to prevent shortage of gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel.
