Turkmenistan and Switzerland have agreed to continue work in the field of investment activity, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry stated April 27.

The topic was raised during consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Ashgabat.

The delegation from Bern was headed by Ambassador Nicolas Brühl, assistant Secretary of State of Switzerland for European and Central Asian countries.

"Stressing the importance of continuing the established dialogue that meets mutual interests for further diversification of fruitful cooperation, the parties noted the role of mutual visits of official delegations," the Foreign Ministry's message said.

Turkmenistan is interested in partnership with Switzerland in such spheres as mechanical engineering, chemical, processing and food industry, pharmaceutical and biochemical production.

The visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Switzerland in October 2012 gave impetus to the relations between the two countries, following which a solid package of documents was signed.
