Azerbaijan sees fall in power generation

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 7.85 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-April 2018 that is by 2 percent less than in the same period of 2017, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 7.56 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January-April 2018 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 1.5 percent less than in January-April 2017.

Thermal power plants generated 7.02 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in January-April 2018 that is 0.8 percent less than in January-April 2017.

Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 517.1 million kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in January-April 2018 that is 9.4 percent less than in January-April 2017.

Wind farms produced 5.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity, while solar power plants generated 11.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the reporting period.
