The detailed design of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling station has been completed within the project to modernize the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, a source in the oil and gas market of the country told Trend May 21.

"Contractors - SOCAR-Foster Wheeler Engineering and Tekfen - have completed the detailed design of a new LPG filling station. At present, the results of this work should pass a number of approvals in the relevant state structures of Azerbaijan," the source told Trend.

The source stated that the main equipment for the LPG station is already at the production stage and will soon be delivered to the site.

An EPC contract for the construction of new installations was signed with the Italian company Tecnimont in February this year.

The modernization of the refinery will be completed in 2021. After modernization, the refining capacity will grow from 6 to 7.5-8 million tons of oil per year, and the operating period of the enterprise will extend until 2040.
