By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

Norwegian oilfield services company HydraWell has abandoned the use of Perforation, Wash and Cement (PWC) hydraulic system in the Azerbaijani gas field "Absheron", Vice President for business development of the company Arne Larsen told Trend via e-mail May 24.

He noted that this was due to changes in the field development program.

"Our work on the application of the system for perforation, washing and cementing (PWC) has been canceled due to operational changes that are not related to the services of HydraWell," Larsen said.

HydraWell signed a contract for the provision of services for the plugging and abandonment at major Azerbaijani gas field "Absheron" with the Total E&P Absheron company.

This work was successfully completed in early May. In particular, the contract provided for the use of hydraulic system HydraHemeraTM Perf, Wash and Cement (PWC ®).

In 2016, SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement on the main contractual and commercial principles governing the first phase of the Absheron field development program.

At the first stage, the development of the field includes drilling one well at a sea depth of 450 meters. As part of the first stage of development of "Absheron" it is planned to produce about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas and 700,000 tons of condensate. At the second stage, it is planned to produce up to four billion cubic meters of gas per year.

According to experts of Total, the reserves of the field "Absheron" make 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate.

JOCAP, a joint venture with 50 percent ownership by SOCAR and the remaining 50 percent by Total, is the operator of the development of the Absheron field.
