The additional agreement between Gazprom PJSC and Uzbekneftegaz JSC for development of the Shakhpakhty gas field in Uzbekistan provides for continuation of gas production until 2024 on the previous commercial terms at the previously created production facilities, the Information Department of the Russian company told Trend on June 21.

The representative of the company reminded that the Addendum No. 2 to the Production Sharing Agreement for development of the Shakhpakhty gas field was signed on May 25, 2018 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The company, however, refused to disclose the remaining terms of the agreement.

“Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz concluded an agreement on strategic cooperation in 2017. Gazprom is aimed at further development of mutually beneficial and long-term partnership in the gas sector with Uzbekistan,” the company concluded.

Uzbekneftegaz is currently the main partner of Gazprom in production of natural gas in Uzbekistan. In 2017, the volume of supply of Uzbek gas to Russia amounted to 5.5 billion cubic meters.

Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement on the main principles of geological exploration of the subterranean blocks of the Ustyurt region of the republic in 2006. In 2017, the companies signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

Shakhpakhty is the largest gas condensate field in Uzbekistan, discovered in 1962, during the Soviet times.
