The construction of a polypropylene plant within the SOCAR Polymer project in Sumgayit has been completed by 99.6 percent, a source in the oil and gas market of Azerbaijan close to the project Told Trend July 10.
The source noted that, the engineering work, purchase of equipment and supply of materials and equipment have been completed by 100 percent, construction work - by 99.7 percent.
"In general, the readiness of the plant is 99.6 percent. Start-up and adjustment work is already in progress, the test production of polypropylene has been successfully started. The plant will be ready for commissioning by the end of summer this year," the source said.
The source noted that, the construction of a polyethylene plant under the same project was completed by 94.8 percent.
"Engineering work and purchase of equipment are completed by 99.9 percent, supplies of materials and equipment – by 99.5 percent. The construction is 89.6 percent complete," the source said.
The SOCAR Polymer project is implemented at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The production capacity of SOCAR Polymer will be 120,000 tons of polyethylene and 180,000 tons of polypropylene at the first stage. The total capacity can reach 570,000 tons of products by 2021.
