Azerbaijan doubles its electricity exports

Azerbaijan exported 1.16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-June 2018 according to customs declarations, against 584.43 million kilowatt-hours exported for the same period in 2017, according to the statistical report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

Azerbaijan exported electricity in the amount of $54.61 million in the first half of this year, against the volume of exports in the amount of $25.1 million in January-June 2017.

Azerbaijan exported 1.16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2017 according to customs declarations, against 646.76 million kilowatt-hours exported in 2016.

Azerenerji OJSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan, which has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants on its balance.

The power generation capacity of Azerbaijan's electric power system is 7172.6 megawatts, which makes it possible to produce about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This allows Azerbaijan to export 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
