By A. Shirazi - Trend:

Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamid-Reza Araki said the incoming US sanctions would not be able to affect the country’s gas export.

“We have no problems with exporting natural gas. We are doing this as planned,” Araki told IRIB news agency on August 1.

Noting that the world is moving to replace fossil fuels with natural gas, he said that for his reason, gas is unsanctionable and no one can ban Iran’s gas export.

Referring to reports that Turkey has come under pressure from the US to halt Iran’s gas imports, the senior official said: “As you know, Erdogan responded to the pressure and said he will not allow his people to shiver with cold in the winter”.

He said Iran is currently exporting 30 and 24 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey and Iraq, respectively.

“We are honoring all our commitments and facing no problem,” Araki said.

The country's refineries produced close to 214 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the fiscal year of 2017-2018, according to the National Iranian Gas Company's production manager.
