Azerbaijan more than doubles electricity exports

Azerbaijan has exported 1.21 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-July 2018 according to the customs declarations, against 597.7 million kilowatt-hours exported for the same period in 2017, the statistical report of the State Customs Committee (SCC) says.

Azerbaijan has exported electricity worth $56.94 million during the reporting period, against $25.92 million in January-July 2017.

Azerbaijan exported 1.16 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2017 according to the customs declarations, against 646.76 million kilowatt-hours exported in 2016.

Azerenerji OJSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan, which has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants.

The power generation capacity of Azerbaijan's electric power system is 7172.6 megawatts, which allows for producing about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This allows Azerbaijan to export 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
