Iran’s coal output reaches 759,400 tons

Hard coal production in two main coal mines of Iran has reached 759,466 tons in the first five months of 2018, according to the statistics of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO).

The largest part of this volume, 184,905 tons, was produced in June, IRNA reported citing the statistical data of IMIDRO.

The lowest level of coal production in 2018 was recorded in January, when the output stood at 95,841 tons.

Iran produced 1,371,562 tons of hard coal in 2017, as compared to 1,688,081 tons in 2016.

Currently, 13,000 people work in Iran’s hard coal industry. Iran’s Esfahan smelting plant requires around 1,7 million tons of coal per year.

The country has 184 coal industry centers, of which 140 are controlled by the private sector, 27 are managed by the government and the remaining part is controlled by the cooperatives.
