Wind power generation increases in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 15.51 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-August 2018, that is 1.8 percent more than in the same period of 2017, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 14.93 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January-August 2018 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 2.2 percent more than in January-August 2017.

Thermal power plants generated 13.55 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in January-August 2018, that is 2.4 percent more than in January-August 2017.

Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 1.32 billion kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in January-August 2018, that is 0.6 percent less than in January-August 2017.

Wind farms produced 24.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity, which is 2.7 times more compared to the same period in 2017, while solar power plants generated 27.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the period, 4.5 percent more compared to the same period in 2017.
